One of the most attractive cross-border cycle routes connects Orava with Poland’s Podhale region. The 35 km section from Trstená to Nowy Targ largely follows the former railway line, giving the route a gentle profile, with much of it separated from road traffic. Along the way, you’ll cycle through open meadows and forests with views of the Western and High Tatras.
From Trstená, the route continues through Liesek, Hladovka and Suchá Hora, crosses the Slovak–Polish border and passes through Podczerwone and Czarny Dunajec before reaching Nowy Targ. The peaceful landscape of the Slovak–Polish borderlands and the limited number of built-up sections are among the route’s greatest attractions.
The cycle route is part of the international Historical, Cultural and Natural Trail Around the Tatras, connecting Orava, Podhale, Liptov and Spiš. Rest areas, information boards and other cycling infrastructure are available along the route.
