Lúčna

Situated right on the border with Poland at an elevation of 1,653 meters above sea level, Lúčna is a true hidden gem of the Western Tatras – Roháče that we highly recommend. This is a demanding hike, but one that rewards you with stunning panoramic views. Due to its remote location, this area sees very few tourists—which means a greater chance of spotting a bear. For that reason, the green-marked trail should only be attempted by brave hikers and larger groups for safety. The name Lúčna (literally "Meadowy") comes from its grassy terrain and wide alpine pastures. Its western slope lies within the Kotlový žľab National Nature Reserve. On a clear day, the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Roháče ridge. You’ll be able to see Brestová, Ostrý Roháč, Salatín, Baníkov, Volovec, Plačlivé, and Rákoň—all in one majestic sweep. A less exposed but equally full-day circular route also leads to Lúčna. The trail starts at Zverovka, continues through Sedlo pod Osobitou, then reaches Lúčna, and returns via the Látaná Valley back to Zverovka.
