Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most important religious landmarks in Oravská Polhora. It was built between 1926 and 1927 on the site of an earlier wooden chapel that was destroyed during the great village fire of 1904. Today, it serves as a peaceful place for prayer, reflection, and rest for both locals and visitors.

Within the chapel grounds stands a historic 1874 stone cross, brought from the flooded village of Ústie nad Oravou before the construction of the Orava Reservoir. The surrounding area has been carefully revitalised using traditional materials such as wood and stone, creating a welcoming space that reflects the region's rural heritage. Location: Centre of Oravská Polhora, beside the main road
