Water activities
The Orava River and Orava Reservoir are a popular water sports area. Swimming, yachting, water cycling, boating, windsurfing, jet skiing, rafting and sports fishing are only some of the options for people to pleasantly spend their free time or a whole vacation. The water sports complex at Gäcel is the only one of its kind in Slovakia, using exclusively natural water streams.
Rafting, Horná Lehota
You can find sightseeing rides on traditional rafts on the Orava River under the rock cliff of Orava Castle in Horná Lehota. Rafting from Horná Lehota to Oravský Podzámok takes around one hour and offers unique views of Orava Castle.

Boat cruise on Orava Reservoir, Orava Reservoir dock no. 2
A sightseeing cruise on Orava reservoir combined with a visit to Slanica island, which features a permanent exposition of folk art from the collection of Orava Gallery. The church located on the island features an indoor exposition of traditional Slovak folk art and an outdoor lapidarium with stone works from Orava from the 18th and 19th centuries. Inside the former crypt, which is also located on the island, is an exposition of the history of flooded villages and building of Orava Reservoir. The sightseeing cruise on Orava Reservoir and exhibition take around 90 minutes.

Boating on an artificial water reservoir, Kubinska Hoľa
Boat on an artificial water reservoir located in the middle of the resort which you can reach via a comfortable chairlift. The lake is a maximum 100 x 30 m in size, which anyone can do. The reservoir features a variety of fish, so you can enjoy yourself watching while you boat. In summer, the lake functions as a fire protection reservoir, and in winter, it is a water reservoir for producing artificial snow.

Orava Reservoir is a unique area with opportunities for swimming, sailing, surfing and other water sports. Slanica Island of Art is in the middle of the reservoir, and you can get there with a sightseeing boat.
